ALTRUISTIC PROJECTS

Beta Epsilon Sisters Volunteer at Lansing Basketball Tournament

Each February, our town of Lansing, holds a basketball tournament that features three public schools, Coolidge, Oak Glen, and Reavis and two private schools, St. Ann Catholic School and Lansing Christian School.  Fifth grade boys participate in a four day basketball tournament held at our local middle school, Memorial Junior High.  Fifth grade girls participate in a free throw tournament.  The winners are awarded a "traveling trophy" with the winning school showcasing the trophy at their school until the following year's tournament.  This tournament is run completely by volunteers and Beta Epsilon members volunteer their time to help in the concession stand.  Students of all participating schools are asked to collect food donations that are given to our local food pantry, and truckloads of food are given to the food pantry.  All money collected from concession stand sales and tickets purchased to attend the event are donated to local charities.  A great time is had by all and is a wonderful way for the residents of Lansing to come together to give back to the community and have fun in the process.

Shown below are Beta Epsilon members, Carol Wachala, Judy Meyer, Debbie Vliek, Mary Mahoney, and

Toni DeLaurentis, who volunteered their time to help with the basketball tournament.
